Attendance
California law requires all students ages 6–18 to attend school full time. Regular attendance and arriving to class on time are essential for academic success. We encourage families to schedule medical and dental appointments outside of school hours whenever possible.
Students should arrive at school at least five minutes before the tardy bell. Students arriving late must report to the Attendance Office to obtain a pass before going to class.
For information about short-term independent study, please contact the attendance clerk at least two weeks before the first day of a planned absence of five or more school days.
Absence Verification Process
To report an absence, call the Attendance Hotline at 408-267-7309 or reply to the absence notification in ParentSquare. Absences may also be verified by a parent/guardian or medical professional by phone, note, email, or other electronic communication.
Absences must be verified within five school days of the student's return. Unverified absences will be recorded as unexcused. Families may be notified of excessive absences or tardies and any applicable attendance interventions or truancy procedures.
Leaving School During the Day
Students leaving campus for an appointment during the school day must check out through the Attendance Office. Please notify the school in advance whenever possible.
Monitoring Attendance
Families are encouraged to monitor their student's attendance through the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. ParentSquare also sends daily attendance notifications when a student has one or more unexcused class absences.
