With profound sadness and a heavy heart, I share the passing of Karen Conklin, a cherished member of our John Muir family. Karen passed away peacefully on the morning of August 23rd, surrounded by her loving husband and father.

 

For 35 years, Karen graced John Muir Middle School as a dedicated Social Studies and Spanish teacher of her 38 years with San José Unified. Her unwavering commitment to her students, her passion for languages, and her deep respect for culture and diversity left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Karen was more than an educator; she was a beacon of kindness, openness, and inspiration.

 

As we navigate this difficult time, let us come together as the John Muir family, supporting one another and honoring Karen's legacy in our own ways. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of the many lives she touched.
